They first launched the Playstation 1 in 1994. It sold over 100 million consoles within the first nine years it came out. Although Nintendo had started video game consoles before SONY the Playstation started a new era of game consoles. Nowadays we would view a playstation 1 as an antique but in the last decade or 2 it was considered the best video console around having said that it was competing against the Nintendo 64 which also was considered a great console. But in the end the playstation was the first console to sell over 100 million units. The playstation 1 did not have a wide range of games that the newer consoles would have but it started the classics such as Crash Bandicoot and SPYRO.
